Frank Stockton's literary adventure, A Bicycle of Cathay, describes the vacation of a young professor on a summer vacation with his bicycle. He encounters various families who give him shelter during a rainstorm, and bear chase. Bear has eaten his bicycle tire, and the master of the bear runs off. This leaves the professor with the responsibility of getting rid of the bear thus meeting another wonderful and helpful family. |
